These folks from Utah had a great time on the trail.

The Moab Rim trail is rated as a 4+ and consists of rock ledges and tight turns that take you pretty close to the edge of the cliff.  If you're afraid of heights, close your eyes (well not if you're driving!).  The first mile or so of the trail follows some nice slickrock with some loose patches of sand and dirt.  Several obstacles, including the Devils Crack and the Z-Turn, are attention getters and provide some good entertainment for the on-lookers.  The views from this trail are simply magnificent.

On this day, our intrepid group of 4x4wire staff writers were blessed with clear blue skies and warm weather.  This was a welcome change from the previous days forecast.  The first thing you notice about this trail is that right off the bat, the first obstacle is an attention getter.  Several off-camber sections close to the rim of the trail keep you focused on the task at hand. The trail was interesting for me because I have manual steering. Add a front locker and steering becomes really exciting, and alot of work. However, my recently installed 2low231 kit really helped on the tight turns. This kit allows me to go shift into 2-Low allowing the front wheels to make the tight turns more easily without scrubbing while keeping the low-range engaged.

All along the trail the views of the Colorado River below are breathtaking.  The trail winds its way up the canyon side until you reach the top of the rim.  With spectacular views of the town of Moab below and the snow capped La Sal Mountains southeast of town, this is one trail not to miss.  If your driving skills, nerves and rig are not up to the challenge of this 4+ trail, a chairlift service is also offered to take people to the top of the Moab Rim trail.
