Why would someone drive all the way from Minnesota to Moab and then turn around the next day and drive back to Grand Junction Colorado? Rocks of course. There are plenty of rocks around Moab, but they are mostly of the slickrock style. 21 Road is something else altogether. More like the Rubicon or Heldorado, this trail is defintley worth the drive.
Located on the North side of town, the 21 Road winds up into the hills, crossing a creek bed several times until eventually the creek bed is the road. Most people jump into the rocks at the lower end of the trail and work their way up the creek bed to maximize the fun.
Paul Stelzig and I made the drive back for this trail, and it was more than worth it. The tight technical crawling is among the best I've ever seen. For Paul it was the first time he had been on a trail like this. We met up with Terry Howe and Josh Lowenstien and a couple of Terry's friends and proceded up the trail. The pictures tell the story better than words from this point, except that I have to mention that Paul did manage to narrow the body work on his Wagoneer significantly at a couple tight spots on the trail.
