My wife and I live in Chandler, Arizona, a suburb of Phoenix.
Since I have lived in Arizona for over 25 years, I can just about qualify for
pioneer status. I love Arizona and the outdoor opportunities it provides. I have
explored a good bit of this state during camping, fishing, and wheeling trips
over the years. I am so very fortunate to have a wife that is always willing and
eager to go on wheeling trips!
I have worked in manufacturing all my adult life. From
building styrofoam cup machinery for export to Saudi Arabia to components used
by the military and Space Station Freedom. For the past ten years I have been
with a small plastic injection molder as the quality manager.
Off-Road Experience & My Vehicle
My truck on the Ajax Mine Trail.
I have taken a Subaru Brat, VW Sandrail, GMC full size p/u,
and ZR2 Blazer off road, but none have been as much fun or reliable as my 2001
Toyota Tacoma. I bought this Supercharged Stepside p/u in November of 2000 and
have been slowly modifying whatever shortfalls I find after wheeling it.
Although very capable in stock form, it has been improved with a couple inches
of lift and suspension upgrades. As it became more capable of tackling harder
trails, I added skid plates and some homemade body armor.
In Arizona, I have run Hackberry Creek, Charouleau Gap, Upper
Woodpecker, Martinez Canyon, Lower Ajax, and many easier trails. We have also
wheeled several trails around Ouray, Colorado and Moab, Utah. Our local Tacoma
club has been both a great source of inspiration and information. When I first
got my truck, wheeling with other Tacomas helped me see just what their offroad
capabilities were. And it helped me overcome the fear of wheeling a new vehicle.
Now with a bit of experience behind the wheel, I try to lead others on trails
whenever I get a chance. With so many scenic and challenging trails here in
Arizona, I'm never happy unless I'm wheeling at least two weekends per month. I
hope to see you on the trails!
