Hollister - April 4, 1998

This was Don's first trip out with his new Detroit Locker....boy he lovin' life with that locker. Here's his first experience with 'tire lifting w/o wheel spin' does he look pleased or what?! He also tried removing his valence the "natural way"....by nearly breaking it off while wheelin'.

Tracy was showing off her new 3" Rubicon Express lift with 31" Bridgestone TAs. She was making us all SICK with all that new found wheel travel! 20 inches for the front alone!! The front wheels can droop so far that the coil spring is actually loose in it's seat....now THAT'S travel!

I'm pleased with my 15" of rear wheel travel...but I've got to do SOMETHING about the measely 7" I get in the front.

Here's Don showing us what he can do, now that he's got that Detroit. On the right, Don impersonates a mini truck. :-)

Eric's FJ40 is a blast to watch on the trail. It's got a shackle reversal, rearched springs, and 33" tires. He can stuff the rear wheels so far they rub on the body.

I couldn't believe my eyes, when I saw just how easily Tracy's Cherokee twists up. It took some manuvering to get that vehicle to lift a wheel.

     Here I'm just playing around....

Tracy was a madwoman! She was ready to try anything :-) here she's going through the whoop-di-doos, which are filled with mud from the recent rains.

Eric gets it' crossed up again...

     Tracy in the tire pit...

It took a little encouraging, but Don gave the Frame Twister a shot for the first time. He breezed right through it, without spinning a tire.

The mud pit was especially nasty this weekend. I don't think anything less that a full fledged "monster truck" could have made it through this weekend. I had no intension of going through it, but I did wade in to see how gooey it was......it was REALLY gooey.

We all had a good time crossing this deep crack left by water runoff. I crossed in the widest area, and the rut nearly ate my 32" MTs. With the Detroit in the back though, it crawled right through it without a problem.

When Tracy crossed a second time, I thought we may actually have to strap her to pull her out, but she surprised us, and backed right out of the rut. She was able to cross it a few feet to the right.
