Phoenix, AZ (Vocus/PRWEB ) April 9, 2009 -- Pedata RV Center publishes an online video demonstrating how to check and maintain the LP (liquid propane) gas system in your RV. The 5 minute video covers basic maintenance checks that should be performed at the very least, once per year.

"Some people get a little nervous about their LP gas system because it is propane, it is under pressure, and it's flammable. However, we want to emphasize that if handled properly, LP gas is one of the safest petroleum products available. It's portable and efficient and if maintained correctly, should perform for a long time," says Clint Ethington of Pedata RV Center.

The video covers the following points about LP gas systems:

• LP Gas systems are by law located in an unlocked compartment for quick access to the shutoff valve.
• After filling the tank, always make sure the cap is returned securely so no debris gets inside.
• Make sure when filing with gas, you use the pressure release valve so that you can properly fill the tank. Tanks are usually filled to 80% to allow for expansion when outside temperatures fluctuate.
• Familiarize yourself with the On/Off valve. If you are storing your RV, close the valve until you are ready to use the system again.
• The LP regulator is usually located right next to the on and off valve. Once per year have the valve checked for leaks. The proper way to do it is check it with a monometer. The average person usually does not own a device like this. Alternatively, check for leaks by using a spray bottle with soapy water and spray all your connections. If you start to see bubbling that means that there is a leak.
• Check the connections to all the appliances that use gas like the refrigerator, stove, and water heater. For example the refrigerator connection in the video sample is located in the compartment right above the LP Gas compartment. Spray the soapy water on the connections to see if there is any bubbling. If there is a leak on any connections you may want to tighten it or take your RV in for service.
