RockLogic 4x4 is proud to announce the release of their new Hydraulic Ram Assist Steering kit. They have offered a similar kit for quite some time, but have replaced the "old" rams with new, custom-made units. They are available in 6" or 8" stroke to fit your application.
Each size features a 1.5" bore cylinder with a 1/4" wall thickness for rock-rash resistance, a strong 3/4" shaft, and 1/2" rod ends at both ends. The shaft has female threads, so the rod end threads inside it to make for amore compact overall assembly.
The kit includes everything shown in the picture--a ram, rod ends, 4 weld-on mounting tabs, and hydraulic hoses. You need only to weld the mounts onto the axle and tie rod, and port your steering box. (Or send it to RockLogic 4x4 to have it ported)
Once installed, the hydraulic ram provides extra power to help steer your rig, even when the tires are bound up making it difficult to steer. Another benefit in some applications is that the steering forces can be shared between the drag link and tie rod, instead of 100% of the steering power going through the drag link.
Your steering system will remain completely street-legal, since you retain your current mechanical linkage between the steering wheel and the tires--this is not a "full hydraulic" steering setup.
