PROROCK MEMBERSHIP
All drivers and spotters entered in events are members of ProROCK. All members are encouraged to make suggestions to the Drivers Committee and the event organizers. Members receive event decals, ProROCK decals, vehicle numbers, hats with their first entry of the year/season. Membership runs from 1/1 to 12/31 each year.
DRIVER'S COMMITTEE
ProROCK will form a Drivers Committee among the competitors that will consist of 4 drivers from each class. The purpose of the Drivers Committee is to establish a formal system of communication between the drivers and event organizers. All competitors are asked to nominate 4 people for the Drivers Committee by listing their nominee's names on their registration form for the first event they're entering. Those drivers receiving the highest number of nominations will be invited to serve on the Drivers Committee. The Drivers Committee and event organizers will discuss event procedures, rules, class restrictions, etc on a regular basis. Method of communications and schedule of meetings will be determined by the Drivers Committee and event organizers.
MEDIA COVERAGE
All ProROCK events will be filmed for TV coverage and videos. We also expect extensive coverage from national magazines and local newspapers. Note: For inclusion in the event programs made available to spectators and media, please email facial picture(s) of both driver and spotter to ProROCK@sportsintherough.com in .JPG file format and keep the file size below 300 KB. On your registration form, be specific about the description of your vehicle and also include team information such as jobs and family.
CLASSES
ProROCK will run two classes in 2002.
Trophy Class
Trophy Class is
intended for vehicles with very few limits on modifications. The only limitation
is that vehicle propulsion must be by 4 tires only. Trophy Class vehicles do not
need to be street legal. Equipped with a winch, Real lockers front and rear (no
limited slips), Seat belts or harnesses for driver and spotter, Fire
extinguisher, First Aid kit, Roll cage designed to keep passengers safe in the case
of a multiple roll over accident.
Modified Stock Class
Modified Stock Class is
intended for well-built trail vehicles modified using readily available
aftermarket parts and being street legal. Any rules or restrictions needed to
maintain the spirit of this class will be implemented. Vehicle must be licensed
with tag, registration and insured according to the laws of the state in which
it is registered.
Maximum tire size of 35" as labeled by the tire manufacturer. Frame is to be OEM or direct OEM design aftermarket replacement. Frame re-enforcements are allowed. Any aftermarket suspension changes on the vehicle will be similar to OEM design. Examples: If the vehicle came from the factory with leaf springs and shackles attached directly to the frame, it must run that way. No 'buggy' leafs and no 'double shackle' designs, etc are allowed. Reverse shackle is OK.
If the vehicle came from the factory with coil springs, it must run that way. Coil-over shocks are not allowed. Suspension locating points on the frame must be within 2 ½" forward or aft of OEM locating points.
All normally DOT required turn signals, head lamps and tail lamps must be operational. Windshield wipers must work properly. Note: Windshields may be for removed for competition after tech inspection when checking-in at the event.
Wheelbase of the vehicle must be within 2.5" of OEM. There will be zero leeway here. Axles will be of OEM design. If the vehicle came from the factory with IFS, it must run that way. If the vehicle came from the factory with straight axles, it must run that way. Modifications in axle width and size are allowed.
Steering will be completely of OEM design. Hydraulic and hydraulic assist is not allowed. Equipped with a winch, real lockers front and rear (no limited slips), seat belts or harnesses for driver and spotter, Fire extinguisher, First Aid kit, Roll cage designed to keep passengers safe in the case of a multiple roll over accident. The intent of Modified Stock Class is to stay within factory designs while allowing aftermarket modifications that are normal in the 4x4 recreation sport. There are no restrictions on engine, tranny, t-case and gearing. Bead lock wheels are allowed.
SERIES POINTS SYSTEM
Drivers receive points based on their finishing position for each event.
1st = 100 pts 2nd = 99 pts, 3rd = 98 pts, etc. The Series Championship is determined by the total of each driver's best 4 finishes out of the 6 events. Even if a driver enters all 6 events, only the best 4 finishes will go towards the Series Championship. The last event of the year will be used as the tiebreaker.
Example: Driver #22 competes in all 6 events and finishes 3rd (98 pts), 8th (93 pts), 16th (85 pts), 6th (95 pts), 1st (100 pts) and 12th (89 pts). His Series points total would be 386.
SCORING & RULES
Competitors start each stage with 20 points.
Penalties/Deductions
1 pt = Stopping - Tires not moving for 5 seconds or more
2 pts = Intentionally reversing course. A reverse after a stop is only
penalized as a reverse, not a stop and a reverse. Once a reverse penalty has
been assessed, no further reverse penalty can be assessed until the vehicle
makes forward progress.
2 pts = Using rear steering between any 2 gates
14 pts =
Using a tool (winch, HiLift, strap, etc)
20 pts = Touching a cone
20 pts =
Exceeding the time limit
20 pts = Accepting outside assistance while on a stage
20 pts = Pushing, pulling, lifting, etc on the vehicle by a driver or spotter to
aid it's progress
20 pts = Entering a stage before officially started (exception:
recovery assistance)
Credits:
2 pts = Clearing an intermediate gate with both axles.
Credits are awarded only after the stage has been completed. Once a competitor receives 20 or more points in penalties, thereby dropping to zero points, they are considered as having 'pointed out' and are through with that stage and cannot earn more credits.
Rear Steer: Rear steering is defined as changing the alignment of a rear wheel in relation to the axle. The first time rear steering is used the competitor will be penalized 2 points. No additional penalty points for rear steering can be assessed until the vehicle clears another intermediate gate. Once a team has been penalized for use of rear steer, the team can use the rear steer as many times as they want without additional penalties until clearing another intermediate gate.
Use of tools: A team can be assessed a maximum of one tool penalty per stage. Use of a tool is defined as readying or removing an item from the vehicle that could be used for aiding progress. Whether the tool is actually used to aid progress or not does not matter. Once the tool penalty has been assessed, that tool or any other tool can be used as many times as the team may want without further penalty.
Starting gates are lettered as the A gates. Ending gates are lettered as the Z gates. Intermediate gates are lettered B, C, D, E, etc. Intermediate gates must be cleared by both axles (wheel center to wheel center) to earn credit. Only the front axle (wheel center to wheel center) must clear the end gate where time is stopped. Start and end gates are just that - starting and ending points - and no points are given for these gates.
Competitors will be assessed a 5 point penalty per position lost as recorded at the last stage of each course. If a vehicle lays on it's side, the competitors will be asked if they want outside assistance. Any vehicle lying on its top will automatically be given outside assistance for safety reasons and they are through with that stage.
Sportsmanship: Everyone is expected to conduct themselves in a proper manner towards spectators, event officials, other competitors and anyone else associated with the events. Penalties for poor conduct can be assessed by stage officials and event Marshals ranging from -5pts to total disqualification.
Alcohol/Drugs: Anyone deemed to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be disqualified from that event, forfeit any deposits made toward future events and refused entry to future events.

SPONSORS & DECALS

VEHICLE NUMBERS
Drivers have the opportunity to choose their own vehicle 'number'. This number will stay with them for at least 1 year/season. When filling out the event entry application for the first event you will enter, please list your first four choices for a vehicle number. Vehicle numbers will be assigned as entry applications are received. There is no other way to reserve and be assigned a vehicle number. Vehicle numbers open for 2002 are 1 through 200 with "0", "00" and "000" also available. A driver automatically relinquishes rights to a number when he's gone a full season without entering an event.
