A Quick fix for the "Tilt Guage"

The inclinometer: Hours of entertainment!

The Inclinometer provides most of us with hours of entertainment (though few will admit it), as we envision passing that magical 30º mark. Sadly, for many the thrill is gone, since the ball inside the guage doesn't seem to float anymore.

But all is not lost! This can usually be easily fixed, since the fluid has simply leaked out of the bubble, and the ball is sitting high and dry.

The Fix

Handle this carefully!

Simply drill a small hole on the back of the unit (after removing it from the dash of course!), flush out the old fluid, and refill with mineral oil. Then plug the hole with silicone, wait a few days for it to cure, and the Inclinometer is as good as new! (Handle it carefully while putting it back in the dash, since the Service Manual warns against tipping it beyond its maximum measurement.)
