TOY: Time to sell

Been a wile since i posted on this site so for those of you who dont
remember me i have an 86 toy jacked 7inch locked and geared to go. I have a
rebuilt 4 cylinder in it with header and high flow exh. Lets see last time i
drove it almost 6 months ago it seemed like the master cylinder for the
clutch was going out (new slave cylinder and clutch installed a year ago)
other than that its a champ. clean few dents some fading have pics if
interested. Oh yea its red. All i ask is a good price and a good home for it
not looking for someone to part it out. I have owned it since high school
(Bought it new)

Well all that said thanks in advance for the interest

Tony

I need some advice. I am currently running
32x11.50R15 MT's on my Bone stock 92' Toyota Hilux
pickup truck. The engine is a well maintained 22re
with 188'000 original miles on it. The timing chain
was serviced at 140'000 miles. (late). The engine
runs great with the exception of terrible spark
nock/rattle and some clear power loss due to the
tires. I'm not ready to beef up the gear boxes
(front/rear) because I feel they are still good and
it's a daily driver. However I would like to service
the truck's engine and restore some power to the
smooth running engine. Can anyone advise me?

Well Duck, sounds like you need to start running a
higher grade of gas or retard the spark some to get
rid of that knock and keep your engine running great.
Or fix the real problem by getting your engine back
into it's proper power band with proper gearing.

It really doesn't matter if the 4.10's in the diffs
are still good ... the tires are too big for your
engine to push around without lugging down. The
solution to get more responsive daily driving is to
regear. I would go to 4.88's ... a little high for
32's, but they will give a bit better pep around town.
 (4.88's are perfect for 33's).

Hello everyone. I just joined this mailing list. I have a 1990, US Spec,
4Runner with a v6, auto trans, 31x10.5 tires, and about 128K hard, hard,
hard miles. The jeep and I live in St. Kitts . . . A small island in the
Eastern Caribbean where I am currently playing the dutiful role of house
husband for my wife, who is in veterinary school here.

I joined the list because I am in desperate need of hearing some
knowledgeable people talk about these cars. This is my first car that I
have owned since 1992 that is not a manual transmission, VW Golf. So
needless to say, I have a lot to learn.

I have already taken care of many problems such as a bad idler arm, bad
upper ball joints, plug wires (try to find them here!), window switches,
brake problems (bad master cylinder and vacuum check valve), and a lot of
other things.

I have run into a problem that the online FAQ's tech pages haven't been able
to help me with.

My transmission is slipping in reverse right now if there is any type of
load at all (like a hill, or if I hit the gas too hard).

I purchased the rebuild parts from Makco Distributing (bulkpart.com) and
bought the Master rebuild kit (94001N), Band (94995), Technical Manual
(TMTOYA340), and the low/reverse sprag (94880).

I won't have the parts for a while because they are going to my parents'
house, then my parents' will ship the internationally to me.

My question though, is how hard are these things to rebuild? Are there
special tools that you really need to have?

The problem is that there really isn't anyone on the island that I trust to
rebuild the trans. I have yet to see a micrometer in any of the three "top
rated" garages on the island.

Did anyone rebuild their own A340H? Any tips or thoughts?

Thanks for taking the time to read this. Hopefully I will have a chance to
help someone in the list in the future.

Mike Brzezowski

The clutch master cylinder repair kit from carparts.com is less than $20 and
is a quick and easy install. It might be worth the time to fix that small
problem and make it easier for your to sell.
