TOY: Exhaust suggestions?

Hey guys, I'm looking to add a cat-back exhaust system to my '95
4Runner(3.0L V6) and I'm wondering what you all would recommend for a
pipe diameter. I'm using Downey's headers back to the factory
catalytic converter. I was thinking of using 2.5" pipe with a
flowmaster 50 muffler. Any thoughts?

I've got the NWOR header and 2.5" (I think) catback with a Flowmaster 70
SUV (Very Big Muffler) on my 92 4-cylinder - it is pretty loud, but
definitely picked up some pep in the higher rpm's

The Flowmasters are designed for engine size - or so their website
says. The one I bought is WAY TOO BIG for my little 4-banger, and does
not muffle as well at WOT as the right sized one should. The local
Hotrod shop was just happy for the sale, but really could not make
recommendations because I only have 4 sparkplugs. The 50 is smaller than
mine, so it should fit better. Not sure which flowmaster to recommend
with a V-6, maybe check Flowmaster's website. By the way - Flowmaster
makes a tough muffler, should hold up for years.

NWOR's catback came with a muffler, and went on without a problem.
Nicely made, fully mandrel bent, used all the factory hangers. I did the
install in my uncle's driveway in the dark with only hand tools - still
only took me a couple of hours. Other than a little mishap with the
master cylinder reservior (knocked it off fitting the header),
everything went together well. Can't say a thing about Downey exhausts,
never used one.

It will definitely make more noise than it used to - be ready.

Mike,

The headers are already installed, so it is just a question of getting
the cat-back. I am pretty confident about the muffler model/size what
I'm concerned with is losing too much back pressure because the pipe
diameter is too large.
