TOY: 4.3 conversion in 88 four runner

If any one out their has ever attempted converting a
4.3 vortech into a toyota truck or fourrunner let me
know. I am stuck on the wire loom and I dont know if I
need to buy a conversion loom or if I can make what I
have work.

Forwarding this from Tony Bartlett (the original Toy/4.3 swap dude :-),
<offroadr@redrock.net>:

Aaron, what year engine are you installing and is your 4Runner
a 4 or 6 cylinder. Also, what do you have for the Chevy engine?
I installed a 96 4.3 ltr into an 85 truck. I used the Chevy wiring (cut
at
the firewall)
and spliced it into the Toyota harness where needed. Added a small
separate
fuse
box to power the new engine. I even installed the Chevy cruise control.
How much do you know on reading wiring harnesses? If you are not very
good
with electrical you might think about the aftermarket harness.
Let us know your ability along with the year engine and what you have
(engine, harness,
computer, etc.) The more you have the better off you will be.
I will try and offer advise if I can
Tony
