Re: TOY: Re: backspace and offset

I don't think so, I ran my 31X10.50's on 7" stock Toyota steel wheels and
had no problems. According to the experts, the wider wheel matters when
airing down, and helps protect against sidewall damage on the trail.
Realistically, if you're running 31's, you're not looking for an extreme
four-wheeling rig, so I'd call those arguments moot in this case. Like I
said, I went to the 8-inch wheels because I needed the different backspacing
due to my lift. The Rockcrawlers I chose were readily available, durable,
and cheap, and 15X8's work well with the tire sizes I'm looking at running
(33's or 35's), without overloading the ball joints and wheel bearings and
making the truck difficult to steer like 10" wide wheels would. You should
be able to run narrow 33's on the wheels you describe - such as the BFG
33X10.50's I run, and they'll work with any typical IFS lift if you get the
itch to go bigger.

Consider gears a must if you're planning on bigger tires than 31's with a
4-cylinder. I just swapped in 5.29's and it feels like I have a new truck.
But, that's a whole new topic.....
