TOY: Re: backspace and offset

I run 15X8 steel rockcrawlers with 3.75" backspacing (measurement from the
back of the rim to the back of the mounting flange), as required by my
TrailMaster Lift on my '92. This is a little less backspacing than stock,
but is required with the Trailmaster (and all other IFS) lifts that use an
upper ball-joint spacer. My 10.5 inch wide tires still are within the
fenders, but 12.5's would stick out a bit. If you're planning on lifting the
truck this way, consider this when you buy your wheels.

Cheapest bet - go to your favorite local used tire and wheel shop - find
yourself a set of OEM Toyota 15X7 steel wheels. That way you'll know they
fit right. I paid $10 each for 3, and found the matching 4th and an oddball
spare at a another scrapyard for $5 each. A little sandpaper, two cans of
quality spraypaint and an afternoon and you're set. My 31X10.50's fit just
fine.

Mike thanks for the reply and info.

I am looking at 15x7 wheels, U.S. Wheels 84 series
namely as the price is right at $35/per wheel. These
have 3.75" backspace. Is there any advantage to an 8"
wheel over the 7" when fitting the 31x10.5's?

Thanks again for the info!!
