RE: TOY: Re: land crusier

I am wondering if I can take the rear axle out of my 77 fj40 and put it
in my 86 4-runner. I know I will have to weld new perches on the top
but will it work. And was kind of axel is in the fj40's? would I gain
anything by doing this?

I have a 92 standard cab and was able to fit Corolla (94 I think) seats in
without too much work. I had to make new seat mounts and make a new mounting
point for the front inside mounts. I've also heard that honda prelude seats
are a relatively easy swap.

I can take a few pictures of the work I had to do and send them to you if
that would help.

Come on Dee... don't give up hope.

I searched and searched for doors. Found some in PA and made the journey to pick them up and back in one day (I am in Wisconsin).

Some people may look at you funny for 1200 mile round trip parts runs, but what do they know?

Hi Dick,
Thanks for the heads-up on bone-yards in my area. The closest I have found is
in Spring Hill, TN. There is another Toyota list member there, however I am
having a difficult time getting a response from DRM. :-|

The next closest for a complete Left door is North Carolina. It is a great
looking door with the triangular Vent window and no rust! So I may be driving
to NC in the near future. I'm still searching locally. I have another source
of my pick from 3 Left doors for this 1982 Toyota 4WD, however they are in
Maryland. Arrugh! :-o

So I patiently wait.
I was frustrated with not finding a door, that's why I put her up for...

...dare I say it For S*ale.

Now, with sources closer to me for a door, I don't plan to let "Mary-Ann"
get away any time soon. She is a fun truck! I really enjoy parking her next
to these New cars at the grocery store. ;-p
Best Regards,

~ Dee

Hi Mike,
I hear 'ya! :-)

I was frustrated with not finding a door, that's why I had put her up for...

...dare I say it For S*ale.

Now, with sources closer to me for a door, I don't plan to let
"Mary-Ann" get away any time soon. She is a fun truck!
I may wind up driving 367 miles each way to North Carolina and pick up
a door there for Mary-Ann.

The door I found locally, (1 hour 20 min. drive), is on a 1979
Toyota 2WD pickup. I believe it would fit my 1982 Toyota 4WD.

Does this sound correct to you or any of the list members?

Now the door close to me, (mentioned above), does not have the vent window.
Mary-Ann's vent window was smashed by a tree. Follow the URL above to see the
aftermath of the tree's carnage to Mary-Ann. :-|

Any leeds on a closer Left side door to Huntsville, Alabama?
Best Regards,

~ Dee

Dee, I've had good luck sourcing through
www.car-part.com and paying for shipping ... yards are
usually used to shipping and get pretty good rates. A
quick search there yeilded several pages of results on
left side doors with vents ... here are some I cut &
pasted for around $100 that seemed to be mainly SW
(low rust) states. Give them a call and see what they
can do.

Anything will fit with a little work... just find seats that you like and have at it.
