If you've limited experience with do it yourself repair you may have a big
challenge.
You certainly can save big bucks by doing it yourself but you will have much
to learn.
First if you plan to do this and any future work on your vehicle you will
need to get a good repair manual that covers your
make and model. For example, Haynes has several available , Ive found them
to be very detailed and available at auto supply stores such as autozone,
Oreilly, advance Auto..etc. I don't know what stores you have in your area.
Second. Most late model vehicles have LOTs of electronic devices, computers
etc. These are complicated and can cause any number
of problems. These Computers are often no more than a simple chip, tiny but
VERY costly. They are all very sensitive to shorts etc.
Many times the problem has to be diagnosed with a computer.
The reason I say this is that if your battery got shorted when it moved it
could have burned out one or more of these circuits. The most
critical curcuit being the ignition. One little short can cause big trouble.
I can't think of any hoses that would keep it from at least starting. I
suspect that it is due to an electrical related item. Check and see if any
connectors on the wiring have been pulled out or broken.
Note!!! It is a very GOOD IDEA to disconnect the positive side of the
battery BEFORE you attempt to work under the hood as I mentioned
that one little short can cause a real headache. I leaned this the hard way.
Without more info can't think of much else to say except should you decide
to let someone else fix it the "dealer" while most qualified will
be the most exp[ensive as well. But you will need to find a good reputable
shop, unless they are really good the backyard mechanic or small time repair
guys may only cause bigger problems.
That's one reason I drive a 1980 truck, Simple, and usually easy to fix.
Also a few thousand less dollars.
Probably didn't help much but Good luck.

John

Also, check if your truck has any fusible links, sometimes these are
overlooked when checking fuses. You will need either the Haynes manual
with the right diagram (sometimes Haynes doesn't include all)or ordering
an electric diagram from Toyota ($50), or try a public library for
automotive repair manuals - you may luck out.

When you say "won't start" does it crank without firing, or does nothing
happen when you turn the key?

If it is totally dead, do the headlights and dash instruments work?

Sorry if this has already been addressed, but starting with the basics helps
me think things through.

Good luck.

Try checking if the fusible link(s) attached to the
positive side of the battery terminal was pulled out
specially if you have no power at all.
