TOY: .On the road with Bouncing-Betty! :^)

Hi Toyota Folks!

Hey, I hope you are having a good Tuesday!

I have some good Toyota 4wd news! :-)

Yesterday afternoon, June 16, 2003, at approximately 5:15 pm (CST)
I drove Bouncing-Betty out of my garage for the first time since
installing her 3.0L Toyota V-6 engine.

(Yes, I do have 35mm pictures of this historical event. Once they are
developed I will scan and post them on the web page with the above URL.)

On her maiden drive with the 1991 Toyota V-6 engine I drove her 5.9 miles
through my subdivision.
I wanted to keep her close to home just in case of any
unforeseen "gotcha's" that might get me. ;-)

That proved to be a wise idea, after three trips through my neighborhood= 5.9
miles, I backed her into my driveway and shut the engine off long enough
to go inside and get a bottle of water.
When I came back outside and tried to restart her, nothing! :-|

By this time the rain had started and I was really wanting to park
Bouncing-Betty back in the garage.
I gave, my neighbor, Greg a call and he came over to help.
We tried a roll start and voila, she started.
Then we carefully backed her into the garage under her own power. :-)

During the "test-drive" yesterday Greg drove her while I rode shotgun
for 2 of the 5.9 miles. We both noticed that the front leaf springs have
a slight Negative arch. This might be from their age, (19 years),
and from the added weight of the 1991 Toyota V-6 engine.

It was such an adrenaline rush to actually drive Bouncing-Betty out
of the garage and through my neighborhood yesterday afternoon!
Thank you for letting me share this achievement with you!
Happy Trails,

Dee-

Congratulations! A few years ago I took my dad's 1971 Porsche 911s from under a tarp and tree limb with water in the cylinders to a real running automobile without much experience working on vehicles and NO experience with Porsche's. Outside of some fire/ems calls I have run, it is one of the greatest feelings ever!

Please post pics, I'd love to see them!
