Re: TOY: horrible engine miss

Well I took loose my AFM and shook it aroubd while running to simulate bumps
and no change.

Yup I tested the TPS before I bought it ($25), I have a FSM, tested fine. On
your TPS, did it test to be good even when it had goo in it? I had "fixed"
my old TPS too by cleaning the contact brushes inside, but it didn't last.
The device on the end of the fuel rail is the Fuel Pressure Regulator (FPR).
I suspect I do have a fuel leak, because I drove it with no vac line to the
FPR at all for several days, and the higher pressure probably caused a leak,
which I can't find because it only leaks while shaking. I'm about to shake
all my fuel lines while it running. And smoking a cigarette.

The search continues...

p.s. j/k about the cigarette :p

Last time my engine missed like this was due to an aftermarket (Jacob's)
ignition box failure. I went back to the factory one (had not removed it
yet) and everything worked fine. Did you replace your igniter and coil as a
unit (it is the little box on the coil in my '92, not sure where yours mught
be), or just your coil?

Before I went back to the factory ignition, I also replaced my TPS (My old
one tested fine, but I KNEW it couldn't be that high-dollar aftermarket
ignition). Disconnected the Jacob's, went back to Toyota, problem solved.

Good luck.

Mike
