It seems you have to register to contact him. Somebody with an account
PLEASE contact this moron and tell him to destroy that before it gets people
killed! Could you imagine some highschool kid that just lifted his ride and
was looking at prices on drop steering links, then saw tthis for a dollar.
No way that kid has a chance of surviving.
Maybe I should try to contact Ebay...

It isn't that difficult to register with ebay. I'm registered but don't
have the knowledge to impart as some of you other guys do.

I've been trying to figure this out myself for about a week before asking.
sysmptoms: My engine misses, worst at full throttle. It will miss
sporadicaly at idle, and misses most often when going over bumps/ rattling.
Checked for any loose connectors, found none, tried tapping/twisting
injectors and other electrical components, no change. Checked timing and
valve lash, both perfect (valves set to a tight .7 intake .11 exhaust).
Tried a different coil, put in a good junkyard TPS from an 85 celica (before
it was worse (more violent while driving) with the TPS connected that with
TPS disconnected, now is same either way). Check engine light will flash on
while driving, pulled codes, replaced TPS, no codes coming now. Seldom the
charge/brake lights will flash on when it missed. Has missed so bad it died
on highway. EGR works, makes no difference if driven with vac. hose
disconnected from EGR valve.
Also I have to give it about a 1/4 throttle to start, makes me suspect a
vacuum leak/AFM? I will ohm test AFM, though I doubt its bad.
conditions: I have no fuel pressure VSV, just a vacuum line from intake
housing to fuel pressure regulator. And exhaust is disconnected in front of
cat.
possibilities: I still suspect fuel pump (since worst under load and at full
throttle when it'd need more gas), distributor/wires/plugs (but they're
still pretty new), vacuum leak a strong suspicion. I tried spraying starting
fluid/WD-40 all around vacuum lines, no change. ECU also suspect. I will
pull and ohm test it.
Anyone?? please.?..

I am fixing to leave and don't have a lot of time...
I am also, not a mechanical genious...
But, my first gut feeling was something to do with not getting enough
power... like there is a high load at highway speeds, or there is a ground
that is sucking juice over big bumps... alternator is not working at higher
rpms... something.
Do you have good/consistent power from Alt and Battery while idle and WOT?
Like I said, I am not genius, just throwing out my thoughts.

I am not sure, which engine you have, but I has the exact same symptoms on my
'92 4Runner. 3.0 3VZE Engine. I am sure that the same problem could occur on the
22Rs EFI or whatever.
I tested everything, to include the Air Flow Meter in accordance with the Toyota
Maintenance Manual. All tests indicated good. The problem was in the connector
itself.
1) Cut the sealant bead from the top of the AFM.
2) Carefully remove the lid and retain for reinstallation.
3) Remove the connector plug.
4) Remove the two screws, which hold the connector.
Note: You will notice that the connector can easily be moved. To my surprise
it was not soldered to the intergrated circuit board. The pins are spring loaded
to apply pressure to the IC board.
The in lies the problem. The solder points on the IC board have become worn and
tarnished.
5) Carefully remove the connector from the AFM case.
6) Renew the solder, preferrably by adding a small amount of solder to each
contact point. If you had to, you could probably clean the contact points with
light sandpaper.
7) Reassemble the AFM and seal the lid.
8) Start her up and test drive.
Good Luck!

How do you know the TPS from the junkyard is good? Did you test the TPS?
It's in the service manual and on this website:
http://4crawler.cruiserpages.com/4x4/CheapTricks/TPS/index.shtml (that's
really a very excellent writeup). Also there is a device at the end of the
fuel line (the exact name of the device escapes me) that can leak or cause
pressure fluctuations. Take my experience here, before you buy a new one
(about $80 from the dealer) pop off the little plastic cover and make sure
the screw in the middle is tight.
I has similar problems that seemed to be fuel delivery and replaced the fuel
pump, fuel filter, the above mentioned "device". It turned out to be the
TPS. I removed it, tested it, and found it to be full of a huge amount of
goo and sludge. Cleaned it with WD-40, replaced it, adjusted it, problem
went away. Good luck!
