TOY: Water in intake...

Hey d00ds,
well I still haven't got my top end noise to go away completely... but I
have another question for you all. If someone was to get water in thier
intake what would be the procedure for fixing this... change oil and
filter...and?
when I did my head gasket I had a coolant line running to the front of my
throttle body.. ooooops.. it's fixed now and seems to running ok but after
a little driving today it was having a hard time running at idle... I drove
it some more and its fine again but I just want to get some input as too
what may be causing this...
                              Thanks,J."tons of questions" Stocks

Manual locking hubs are pretty easy... it is about the first thing I messed
with when I got my truck.

It is difficult to figure out how the spring goes on if you don't have a
good picture though.

There are hub rebuilding direction on 4x4Wire somewhere that would probably
help you quite a bit.

I am throwing around some ideas for a little problem I have with my '85 Xtra
Cab.

Christmas Day, my cab decided that it no longer wanted to sit on the cab
mounts... the cab mounts and cab probably argued for a few minutes, but
eventually the rust stepped in and chose a side. Final Score = Cab Mounts 0
: Cab 1

So - now the passenger side of my cab is sitting on the Frame and Nerf Bar.
My drivers side is still holding, but I wouldn't put any money on it lasting
very long.

I am not Jimmy Rigging this... there are electrical wires sitting under
there right next to my fuel lines. Metal bouncing against metal next to
electricity and gas lines is right up there next to "Dinner with the
In-Laws" on my list of things I want to do.

I was thinking of getting the bottom quarter off of an Xtra cab (from the
back window down - and then forward halfway up the door) and having it
welded in place after cutting the old one out. Nobody seems to think this
will be easier than just doing a cab swap. A cab swap is an option
obviously, but non-rusted Xtra cabs aren't exactly in overstock around here
in Salt Country (Chicagoland). I even thought of trying to find a rolling
chassis with an extra cab and IFS (IFS Steering Box for crossover :) ) - so
I could put my drivetrain under it. Again, how many of us are looking for
rust free chassis'? Let's see... probably 75% of us anyway... so they are
obviously not in abundance.

So, what would you do?

For a little detail - pretty much, the whole corner of the cab on either
side of the truck is rotted from rust. This isn't something that could be
easily patched. It definately isn't something I have the body skills to
fix.
