RE: TOY: fuel pressure sender (sending unit?)

I believe the fuel pump for the 22R is a mechanical one on the front
passenger side of the engine... the 22RE is in the tank and is electronic.

(This has always been kind of ironic for me - mechanical safe and sound in
engine compartment... electrical buried in gasoline...)

I don't know of any 22R series that has a fuel "pressure" sending unit that
was stock on the vehicle.

The fuel gauge sending unit should be in the tank on both vehicles but I
doubt (although I don't know for sure) that they are compatible.

Hi Kerry,
please clarify, are you asking about the fuel Sending unit?
(ie the device in the fuel tank that sends signal to your fuel gauge.)

AFAIK, The 1988 series of 22RE engines had fuel Pumps in the tank
while the 1894 and earlier 22R series engines (carbureted) had the
FP mounted on the engine.

Which device are you enquiring about?
Happy Trails, :-)

Hiya,
Have a weird issue with my girlfriend's 4Runner:
Sometimes, when the thing is up to temp, it idles very roughly, and
will frequently stall. It will cold idle fine. The other thing that has
happened recently is that the temp is spiking up every once in awhile.
Going to run some
injector cleaner through it, but the Toyota guy said he thought they
were OK, as the thing would rough idle
when we took it in. Would the temp spiking be the thermostat?

Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Aaron

Maybe your engine cold start injector is leaking fuel after warm up? take it out
and see if it leaks under pressure..
