Like I said, its bad for engine life and long term durability.
Overadvanced ignition timing elevates spark plug tip and in-cylinder
temperatures and pressures. Excess heat in turn warps the aluminum
cylinder head over time and in turn compromises the integrity of the
cylinder head gasket.
It's also possible you may not hear damaging denotation caused by
overadvanced timing. Below are a couple questions /answers I copied
from the Landcruiser mailing list:
Questions:
"How far advanced can I run the timing without causing engine damage?"
"As long as it doesn't ping is it OK?"
Experts Answer:
"No, pinging is not how you set timing. The engine that I just finished
rebuilding was blown up due to hopelessly overadvanced timing.
The driver couldn't hear the high speed detonation that shattered
the rings and scored the cylinder walls beyond repair."

Can somebody that owns a 77-83 or so FJ-40, measure the size of the taillights for me. These should be the ones that have all 3 lights in one housing. I just need a size measurment of the lens area. TIA for any replies.
