Update on my timing problem.
I took out the dist. and moved it one tooth over, but
then the timing was way too retarded. I couldn't get
it to go past about 10 ATDC. I then took of the
rocker cover and looked at the timing chain. It
looked like it was on correctly.
My solution was to get out a round file and a drill.
I then shaved off about 3mm of material from the dist
housing in the adjustment hole. I put the dist back in
and was able to adjust the timing perfect. The truck
has never run this good. No pinging under any sort of
load and (by my estimate) it seems to be running about
10 degrees cooler. I haven't noticed any loss in
power either.
I have no idea why I wasn't able to get the timing
right without doing this. I imagine there might be a
hidden underlying problem, but for now the truck is
running great and I'm just going to forget about it.

Chain Stretch ? Might behoove you to check the cam timing as previously
suggested. If you find that it is off, but not one whole tooth off,
then I would call Tim @ DOA Racing Engines and get his timing chain kit
pronto. The time & ~$200 invested will prevent a much bigger bill and
inconvenience down the road.

You Can get 1" easily. I think you can max at 1.5" if
you use lower profile upper (aka the droop) snubbers.
Of couse - you may find the fid a bit "harsh".
Are you using the OEM TBars or are you going after
market?
Im running 300M bars and had 1.25" at first but that
was just way to barsh and I lowered it back to 1".
Its still pretty harsh but after a few years and oh
80K miles its smoothed out somehwat :)
Also - the rebound damping on the Nilstein/Downey dual
front setup is way off.
Im trying to get around to finishing the Tocal Chaos
10" hoop install and planning to fit Bilsiente 7100
remotes in until I get the $$$ to do the Caddy setup.
Oh - witht he 300M, I ditched the front sway bar. Much better...
