TOY: largest size tires

I have a 96 regular cab 4x4 tacoma and I was wondering what the largest tire
I could put on it would be? I am really looking for something a lot bigger
than the small stock that toyota feels is adaquate. I would especially like
some heavy duty off road or mud tires. Any suggestions are greatly
appreciated!
Thanks,
Robert

I think you will probably hear 31" tires are the max with a proper fit.
32s may be used if you torque the torsion bars. But I have a T100 so what
do I know...

A friend of mine has an '01 Taco. She stuffed 32's under it in stock form,
then later lifted it with Fabtech's 3.5" adjustable kit. I think hers is
set just under 3". She's planning on a 2" body lift and 35's.

If you want the ultimate, cut off the IFS, throw a D44 w/CTM's and hi-steer
under the front, and put some good soft springs under there!

Hey CarterMan,
Did you see the nice big dents Eric put in Kelly's truck on John Bull?

Hello listers,

What is the name and function of the screw on the passenger-side top of
my throttle body?

Since I dropped the new 22re in its been idling too high (no tach but
I'd guess 1500) so I tried turning the screw and after turning it 1 1/2
turns , its idled down to about normal (sounds like 850 which is a little
high but at 2 turns it started making a low glugging sound and running
rough.

The glugging sound sounded like it was coming from the tailpipe,
making me think the screw might have something to do with the air injection
into the exhaust manifold. Anybody familiar with this?

Thank in Advance,

K. White

Has any one ever had to replace the tie rod ends on a solid front axle stock
suspension? I think mine are about dead. I think one is popping pretty
bad. Are they available at a local auto parts store like Autozone or
Advance? I have an '84 Xtracab.

No, but I did the ones on my 2WD 80 and they were a big PITA.

I got them from Autozone or something similar.

If they are like mine, you will need a Propane Torch, a Tie-rod Puller, a
big hammer, lots of patience, and an extensive vocabulary of swear words.

Couple tricks for this.

1) Hit the side of the arm at the tie rod taper, not the end of the
threads. I use a short handled 3 pounder for this. This makes the taper
work for you as a wedge. You'll get even better results if your friend
shows up with his 3 pounder and just holds it against the arm on the
far side of where you're hitting.

2) If it won't move using the above, buy, rent, or borrow a pickle fork
and try that, again using the 3 pounder (I got mine from HF). For some
people this is the first step.

3) If it's really stuck, rustbelt stuck, then break out the torch but
also break out the Paraffin wax. Melt the wax into the taper. Now hit
on the side of the arm.

4) Occasionally you can help yourself by lossening the nut ~1/4 turn
and re-installing the cotter pin. Drive it for a week or more.
Sometimes you'll feel it pop loose in which case you'll want to have
the tools needed to tighten it with you. Tighten it just a little for
the drive home.
