I don't know about that... on mine, that wouldn't do it. I would have to
cut one in my bed since the fuel pump connections and bracket sit right
under the very front of the bed.
You could however, unbolt your bed and slide it back a couple feet to give
yourself room? :)

I have kind of a low pitch noise coming from the front right of my 86 pu.
Pretty constant at anything over 10-15mph and does not seem to really
increase with speed (though it is hard to tell because of the increased
road noise). Same noise with our without hubs locked, braking does not
affect the noise, and turning does not seem to either.
I am kind of guess bearing noise? Just started all of a sudden. Let the
tuck sit overnight and same noise cold this morning.
Think I saw a tech section dealing with front ends. Need to check that out
this evening but wanted to ask for advice from the list too.
Thanks,
John

Whether I could cut the access hole or not I don't know. I wouldn't.
It's not all that hard to just drop the tank (even when half full of
fuel), and considering the number of times it's supposed to have to
happen in a truck's life I'm kind of surprised the Rnnr's have an
access hole.
On to a new issue. What, exactly, does that white plastic screw on the
side of the intake plenum adjust ? My '84 FSM does not address it. I'm
thinking I'm going to have to spend the duckets and get a FSM for this
'85 if I elect to keep it.
For you with near stock height 84-88 Xcab trucks and two piece rear
drive shafts, the Auto trans Xcab truck's one piece rear driveshaft
fits. The carrier bearing went bad on Patch and I swapped blue's rear
driveline in to see if that eliminated the noise, it did. That bearing
was about 3 y.o., I had the local driveline shop completely rebuild it.
On Patch, with his ~3" lift, it is a little short but it certainly
works well enough to drive to work and back.

I'm guessing as it sounds like you're thinking, wheel bearings. May as
well do them all. Use quality CV joint grease in them. They are big
bearings, they should go a little tighter than you would with a
passenger car sized bearing.
