It's an 85. The pump is separate from the gauge sender. It was take the
pump bracket out of the tank, replace the pump on the bracket and
re-install type of chore.

BTDT. ;-)
When my '85 4Runner FP went south it was a straight forward fix.
Just lift the right rear seat, remove the access panel, unplug the
connections to the FP assembly then R&R the Fuel pump.
I'd say it was a 1 Bananna job. :^)
How would you rate your FP replacement, on the Bananna scale?

If it is the same sunroof that is in an 85 I could help you out cause I have
spare parts but I doubt it.
Otherwise I just looked up your truck on www.parts.com and I couldn't find
which one you were talking about. Look it up there and look at the
drawings... if you can find it there it will probably be cheaper anyway.

Subject: TOY: Sunroof latch on 92 Pickup
Hey guys,
I don't post often, but just the other day I noticed that my sunroof latch
(the red piece) had broken... so now the sunroof won't stay open.
The dealership doesn't know what P/N that is... all he could find is the
"locking mechanism" and it's not available. Any ideas?
It's a 92 V6 4x4 Truck, manual sunroof.
I'd appreciate any input.
Cheers,

I don't know if someone has already told you are not, but in my experience
the Toyota valve train is VERY noisy even when it is operating perfectly.
Most people suspect problems when hearing it, but a long time Toyota person
will usually shrug it off.
If everything is in spec, I wouldn't worry about it.

thanks for the help guys...
didn't need to mill the head it was flat and i figured i didn't need to give
myself the headaches. the 22r is now running.. timing is off, gonna go home
with and use my dads timing light, too poor to afford one after the buying
the head gasket and beer for the helpers.
one of my valves is ticking.. I adjusted them to factory specs .008 and
.012. Still ticks kinda hard, any suggestions? The head was new 40,000
ago. I'm gonna recheck the valves when i get home this weekend. I'm
spending too much time at work, this coop with remington is busy.....

Make sure that you adjusted the valves after letting the motor get up to
temp. They're supposed to be adjusted hot. I usually adjust mine to .007
and .011 cold, and then warm it up and check them. I've been lucky a few
times and had them quite enough not to mess with them after setting them
cold. :-) HTH.

The valve clearance must be set to .006/.010 slight drag on the feeler
gauge blade (or .007/.011 heavy drag) to eliminate the tick, tick.
on the '85? on up models that all use aluminum rocker arms.
Toyota set them this tight originally which is why new truck customers
did not hear tick tick when they went for test drives back in
the 80's and 90's. It will not damage anything and my 411,000
mile truck proves it is not damaging
If you still have tick tick at 006/.010 you likely have a rocker arm
misalignment problem on the noisy valve.

I screwed up that part of my head gasket fixing a leak near the oil pump not
long ago. Fortunately it is not a high pressure area and it barely leaks
anything, but it does dribble out oil on occasion. I am trying to put off
pulling apart the head to replace the head gasket just for that tiny little
spot.
-----Original Message-----
From: Kerry White [mailto:kerry_e_white@hotmail.com]
Subject: Re: TOY: Re: Crankshaft Key Removal?
Finally got them out, ruined 1 but only needed 2 of 3. Had to grind them so
the oil drive spline would slide on. Got the timing cover on today with
unexpected difficulty, the head is already on so the front part of the
headgasket was hanging down and kept getting in the way till the timing
cover gaskets started falling off, finally found ot how to get it on but I
expect a leak, so in my week after inspection I'll probably get to pull the
radiator etc. and fix that..
Makin progress though! And it does look good, although maybe a little too
colorful.
Thanks,
Kerry

Banana and a half. Snakeing the tank back into place would've been
easier if I'd have removed the driveshaft. Xtra Cabs don't have a back
seat......

Well, it did run. Started on dialing in/checking the TPS and cleaning
the TB. Oh boy was that TB filthy. Anyway, I noticed as it's sitting in
front of the shop running that it's spraying fuel out of the dingus
(that's a technical term) screwed into the front end of the fuel rail.
The dingus' body is silver soldered to the male threaded part and the
solder was slowly letting go. So it never would tighten enough to crush
the crush washer well enough to seal. Off to the dealership tomorrow.
I'll bet that's gonna hurt.
In the mean time I have a bite on the MR2 so maybe I won't be so broke
soon.
