Thanks, Mike. Oh boy, assuming that the A/c isn't on and since it
cranks but does not start it looks like TPS trouble. Wasn't there
recently a thread on that topic ?

My truck sometimes gives me intermittent TPS codes and Check Engine lights.
I unplug it and it runs better. Then, I plug it back in after a while and
it is fine... I have some wiring "issues" still, I think... :(
The point of all this is, that if you unplug the TPS, the computer assumes
safe settings and the truck doesn't really run much differently.

I don't know how well it runs or doesn't. It cranks but does not start.
The eleven code is the only code I'm getting from it. I would expect to
hear the fuel pump run when it is first turned on to pressuize the
injector rail. I don't hear it do anything. A friend pulled the filler
cap and with his ear to the opening still did not hear anything. Makes
me suspicious of a dead fuel pump, but I figured to pursue the trouble
codes until they are clear. Assuming that will happen with a non
running truck. think I'll loosen the fuel damper since it's easy to get
to and see if I have fuel pressure. Then I'll plug my test spark plug
and lead into the coil and verify that I have spark.
Bummer is that this coming weekend is the SNORE/MORE night race @
Barstow and this truck is my last chance of going. Guess I should be
pulling the TH 400 out of the Sub anyway.......

One more thing Thom!
there is a T shaped plug, on the front left fender well, near the 2 round
test plugs. Short those 2 terminals on the T connector and with the key
on,the fuel pump should run. Also check the ground on the fuel pump, they
corrode off around here fairly commonly...

Thanks to both of you for pointing this out. I'll try it and see if I
get fuel pressure. I'll also have a look at the schematic and see if
it's direct to the pump or just triggers the relay.
