Re: TOY: Leaf spring hanger bolt/bushing removal...
WOO HOO!!! success! After about 3 hours per side, I
magaged to persuade both front pins out - undamaged!
Thanks very much to all who gave advice, I think I
used a combination of almost all tips:
1) spray with pb-blaster (exept I can't seem to get
that here so I used Forte -what was reccomended here )
2)let soak overnight
3)use BFH (always with drift punch)
4)use 19mm on head end to twist until rust/rubber
breaks
5)spray more
6)put big C-Clamp on and leave for a few hours
7)spray more
8)put chisel behind head and use to force bolt out
while twisting with 19mm wrench/channel locks
9)spray more
10)use BFH again
11)Swear at it
12)spray more
13)heat up bushing and hot-box garage with rubber
fumes
14)open a few windows and door and sit outside for a
few minutes.
15)spray more
16)repeat steps 3-12 but replace chisel in #8 with
22mm open end wrench when the gap is big enough.
17) jump with joy
18) start all over again on the other side......rrrgh
Now all I have to do is get the rear bushings out
(rear on the front leafs) (oh joy of joys)
Thanks again to all...
Bruce
