ToySUV: White Smoke / Rear window / Engine noise
I have a few questions for anyone out there with their ears on and experience
with 4-runners. I have a 1987 4-runner with 226,000 miles on it (beautiful),
and I'm having a few problems.
When the weather's cold, I get a lot of white smoke out the exhaust for about
the first 5 minutes of running the car. I also get some water out of the
exhaust as well. Any ideas?
My rear window will inttermittently roll up and down (mostly won't work). I
think the motor is good because when it does work, it is full power. I have
checked the controller (side panel of the car behind the driver's seat) and
it seems good. Past that, all I can think of is a shortened out wire. Any
ideas?
Most of all, my problem is a engine noise problem. When I get the engine up
to about 2,300 rpms, the engine gets this almost harmnoic vibration, metal on
metal noise going on. you don't hear it when it idles. I talked with one
person who thinks it's the valves, and that I need to change the valve stem
seals, and that will fix it. Does anyone have any experience with a problem
like this on their toyota?
Thanks a million,
