Subject: TOY: Engine Cleaning
| Anyone have any recommendable engine cleaning methods? I know the basics, but
| I'd love to hear how ya'll clean your motors.
|
| I have several motors here ranging from dirty to 1/4" thick crud coated :\.
| I am thinking of renting a high pressure washer (3000 psi), getting a lot of
| degreaser, and having an engine washing day. Any tips, tricks, or precautions
| would be appreciated.
|
| TIA ,
| Kerry

You might try an engine degreaser like Gunk, Super Clean, Simple Green, etc.
If you decide to use a pressure washer (use Caution!)
It would be best to not use High pressure as it will attack plastics, rubber,
and
in some cases of the Very High pressure washers will strip off the paint.
[don't ask how I know this!] ;-)
In the areas that you can reach try hot water and Dawn dish washing detergent.
Just be careful to use rubber gloves. (Dawn will strip your hands of natural
oil)
BTW - it would be best to not get the distributor wet. :o )
Happy Trails,
