TOY: intake
Any of you out there with the 3VZE 3.0 V6 mess with the intake system? I
want to put a nice big cone filter in place of the restrictive air box. I
pilled the VAF (Volume Air Flow meter) off the air box, and disconnected the
resonator. But the cone filters connect with a round fitting, and the end
of the VAF is a square. Anybody know how to make the 2 connect? Also, what
should should I do with the resonator, or the hoses connected to it?
Since the list seems nice and slow, I'll give the rest of you who care, or
are bored, a quick update. Yesterday, I ordered the rear replacement 4.56
r&p, install kit and rear Lockright...I was going to go with the EZ Locker,
but when the 2 were compared, a friend found that both were exactly the same
as far as he could tell, and the parts worked interchangably (is that a
word?)...all from Randy'd R&P. The gears and install kit were in stock, and
should be here tomorrow, but the locker was in Tennessee, and should arrive
either Fri or Mon. Then, I will have a friend install them-for a *small*
fee:) I replaced the front half shafts a few days ago, and learned not to
completely trust those shop manuals. It took me about 4 hours to actually
remove the old half shaft, after both ends were disconnected. The diff
flange bolts are splined, and can usually be removed, but not these. So
that did not leave enough clearance to get the shaft outta there. I
eventually unbolted the steering linkage, upper control arm, and everything
else I could to move the hub outwards, and eventually removed the shaft.
Installation was quick and simple, and the other side was a lot faster,
since I knew where to start. And that 4 hours worth of crow-barring,
hammering and knuckle busting was summed up in the book as, "Once unbolted
from the differential flange, pull it down, and remove it."
Well, now that that's over with...I have more to look forward to.
TIA
