That's the part I ordered as well. Been working perfect for nearly 3
years. I had a brand new OEM (single stage) thermostat exhibit
overshoot problems, as well as a non-OEM that worked fine.
The problem, as I understand it, is something to do with the lack of a
bypass on the thermostat. Coolant either flows through it (if open) or
is doesn't (if closed). Other engine designs have a small bypass
channel that takes coolant blocked by the thermostat and routes it back
through the block.
