TOY: Popping sound (Clunk)
I have an 84 x-cab (solid front axle) that is pretty much stock all around.
When I turn or sometimes when I hit a bump I hear/feel a popping sound from
the front end. It kind of sounds like something is in a bind and it is
coming loose, but I don't know. I have said before that the front springs
are really close to the bumpstop on the front axle, but that would not
explain the popping when I turn the wheel. I have also heard the noise when
turning when going very slow or almost stopped. I think the bushings on the
steering system are the originals and probably need some attention, but I
don't know if that could cause the problem. Anybody had this problem or
know of a solution?
Thanks for all of your input!
