RE: TOY: heat help update
I did that on my '80 a long time ago... I feel your pain brother.
Don't make my mistake though... it was 25 degrees out, windy, and snowing...
my T-stat job turned into a nightmare. Breaking the bolt added to my
frustration and made me say a lot of bad words.
I tapped the hole for a slightly larger SAE bolt. In my confused state, I
tapped the hole with the elbow on the truck. For some reason I could not
tighten the bolt tight enough to keep the elbow from leaking. After 20 more
minutes of cussing, I realized what I had done... and after drilling out the
threads on the elbow everything went together fine.
You should hear the story about my cussing rant at a stubborn relay rod
while sitting in 4" of water and getting hit in the face by cold rain... I
have been told it was a Grammy winning performance.
Good luck.

well a 5 minute job of replacing the thermostat has turned into a nightmare.
one of the bolts holding the hose on broke, so i spent an hour trying to get
it out. finally got it out and now i am working on retapping the hole as i
tried it once in the dark and it didn't work(started leaking) once i get
that straightened out we'll see what happens.
