TOY: Camero Steering Box?

I was up at the Dixie Run this weekend at Tellico.  Talked to a group of 
Toyota guys who all had steering boxes from older (early 80's) Cameros.  
They said they are stronger, much more responsive, and bolt right on.  I've 
never heard of this before.  Any truth to it?
