Re: TOY: Re: tranny fun
Just last week I started noticing that it was real hard to put my 5 speed
tranny into first gear at a dead stop. If I am at about 2 mph, it will go
in smooth as glass, but usually it is neccessary to put it down into second
gear from a stop, then it might slide (sometimes grind) into position before
the stoplight turns yellow. At first I thought it was the synchros, but
could it be do to this shifter seat?
Even if it isn't, it's probably a good idea to replace it anyways. With
189,000 miles, it's sure to be in bad shape.

The shifter "seat" is probably what you guys are talking about. Here's an
article for the V6 tranny, yours should be similar:

It may or may not fix the problem, but its a good place to start.
