I also have the same problem with my '92.  It's good to know that it
isn't an internal problem in the transmission.  If anyone finds out
exactly what the cause is please post it to the list.

I had the same issue with my '91.  It wasn't my tranny. It was some
gasket related to the stick shift mechanism..or so I was told (I'm a
girl, I don't know these things) . Anyway, problem was fixed when that
part was replaced.
