Re: TOY: electric locker or air locker??
Which is better? Sort of like the Pepsi versus Coke argument. Both are
still colas!
I think they are about the same price within a hundred or two. Although,
you could potentially get the electric locker much cheaper. I bought my
front FJ80 locker for $225. Mike Fox just bought a rear 4Runner electric
locker, complete with axle, for less than $300. So, if you are willing
to wait and watch what people are selling on EBay, or locally, you could
get a very good deal on an electric locker.
Electrics can be expensive or cheap. I picked up a locker ECU for $25. I
also built a relay box for $25 to control the rear. Running wire could
be another $20, plus the one part of the factory harness ($25). And then
a switch.
You don't have to get another housing but you will need to modify your
rear housing. If you go the electric locker route, I have a 1985 housing
already modified if you want to buy it.
