Re: TOY: Locker prices
Lee,
While I'm new to the Toyota Game, I've been putting gears and such in for a
couple of years.
Reider Racing (800 375 1330) isn't the cheapest, but they are very
knowledgeable and helpful. As for Toyota prices, call around, I end up
using Reider when I buy stuff and try to get others to use them, but some
places offer warranties the MFG doesn't provide, so they get the business
from most people. so far I haven't heard anything bad about that company.
(Drivetrain Direct I think)
EZ lockers of some sort are simple and in expensive, they require more
dexterity than actual knowledge of mechanics. (in some cases, D30s and
such, AMC 20 too, with 4.56's require removal of the ring gear) you toyota
guys will have to let him know they details of the 8" toy install.
The one thing about lockers is: you usually get what you pay for, that's
not to say you can't spend to much. Just be prepared to adapt your driving
style to accommodate the quirks of the EZ locker, which are worse than the
old style Detroit (at least it rarely slips, mine has been know not to
completely engage on the road and slip a tooth under power, real loud)
