TOY: Ed's way too hard riding 4Runner
In case people are wondering why I went to even
stiffer springs - the front spring eye holes were all
bunged up.
To get the Nationals to fit - I cut one hole out to
3/4" and then lengthened the spacer on the bolt so it
fit the wider hole and put washers on top. Im
surprised it held up all that time :)
So to fix this I was going to weld on new spring
hangers. By going AOR (aka the expensive Mazda swap)
I could get the welding done seperatley from the
suspension removal part - thus saving $$$ in shop
labor. Although I doubt that I saved any money
overall.
The Nationals were stiff - and at the Ungathering -
they were like 2 weeks old - so they really hadnt
cycled in yet.
Note that I *broke* the Nationals - both sides!
So the AOR's were set up so that I wouldnt break them.
The ride is breaking in - or Im getting used to it..
I think I'll eventually go with softer springs and
some kind of Firestone airbag for DJ equipment
hauling.
But now there's the $200 4Runner opportunity. Its an
87 with a 22RE and 5 speed. Methinks that this could
be the trail basher...if I dont turn it into a pile of
parts first...

I think you should have gone with OME springs for the
rear. They are
designed very well. I dont know what their load carry
capacity is
though. I have the HD version.

Oh, I would hate to see how stiff your truck is now! I
remember the last
springs you had were stiff! I think you had the
Nationals on at the
Ungathering 2 years ago.
