are you running them off a relay? so the primary circuit is getting the juice from the batt to the relay to the lights?
the secondary circuit is using a long ground wire from one end of the relay coil to the switch in the dash and then to the ground. the positive post of the relay coil can either come from the parking light circuit (if you only want to be able to turn on accessory lights if the
parking lights are on) or even straight from the positive post of the battery...
i dont think the head unit is bad. it's just the accessory power circuit isnt designed to draw that much power...
