I just wanted to let you all know that the Job went well. I finally got it
all back together, after about 12 hours of prep/cleaning/assembly in 30
degree weather. I used carb cleaner to soak the block threads, then blew
them out with compressed air. It did a very good job, and a tap was not
needed. Nor could i find one. ;-) No oil was in the holes, and the bolts
went in smoothly. She started up fine, and has been running good with no
steam/smoke/loss of coolant. Almost had a problem on our hands though...
When my father came out to turn the key, i forgot i had the breaker bar on
the crank while doing the valve adjustment...he rushed me while doing my
triple check and Guess what? after a couple revolution we hear a *clank*
*dink*. I look under the truck and the Bolt and breaker bar on on the floor.
Whew! got that baby back in and she started up fine.
Geez, this truck has been a real Garage queen! But it wasnt the trucks fault,
im just a preventive maintainence freak.
Thanks for all the advice,
