TOY: Head Gasket/Oil leak question
Alright, i have a small oil leak after I replaced the timing chain on my
87 22R 4x4.
I knew i was going to have trouble with this, as when i was putting the
timing cover back on, i caught the end of the head gasket [the portion that
seals the timing chain cover] and since its metal, it held the bend. i backed
it off [i had all the bolts in already] and tried to redo it and payed a lot
attention to not kink it again. Well it was kinked just so that i could not
get it on without it not sealing well. It is a low pressure area oil wise,
but its still leaking. I think the only remedy is to do the head gasket so
it seals correctly, as i hate filling oil every week/day. Any body have an
idea on how to seal it without doing the headgasket? The gasket is not bad
cylinder wise, remember. The truck runs fine.
If not, are there any tricks to making the head gasket go smoothly? I plan to
do this my self, and any ways of saving money/time are always welcome. Also,
any wholesale/discounters for toyota parts? any dealers offer list memeber
discounts?
Thanks,
Rob Hammond
