Re: TOY: wheel noise
The sound coming from the front left tire is a clunking noise like
something is loose and hitting something. It just makes noises on little
bumps in the road, and really starts making some noise on dirt washboardy
roads. My right was making the same noise but that was easily fixed with a
new idler arm. The old one had over 160 thousand miles on it, and I don't
drive to slow on windy dirt roads. It has definitely taken some abuse in the
last 4 years.
Scott was your noise only in 4 wheel or not? Was it the sound of a bearing
going out or just the clunk of metal on metal? What was also weird is I
found no brass shavings lying it the hub-rotor assembly? If the bushing has
quite a bit of play don't you think there should be little pieces everywhere
from the wear? I'll have to call and see if Toyota makes a needle bearing
instead of the brass, like someone else on the list mentioned!!!!
thanx, Paul
