TOY: Herculiner and Rhinoliner on nerf bars
Back when I had my CJ5 I pulled the interior and durabacked the tub.
This liner is mch much like herculiner, and is fine for the interior,
but I feel it is too soft for a truck bed, bumper, or any other surface
which is going to see hard use. Even the spot where my heel rubbed the
floor started to wear slightly before i wrecked it.
I have a friend who rhino-lined his truck bed and i don't like it that
much either. You see, all applied bedliners are Ployurethatne or
Polyurea. Rhino is completely Polyurethane, which is softer than
polyurea, and provides a much better grip, but consequently, it also
tears more easily.
The solution (I think) is Line-X. This is either 100% Polyurea or a mix
of the two 'polys. Its much slicker and harder than rhino liner, kind
of similar to a drop in liner, but much harder than one. This is about
perfect for a bumper, but a little slick for insde the tub. This is what
my 4Runner will likely get someday.
Also, try (As someone else suggested) POR-15. It's really hard. My
friends K-5 has PRO-15'd axles. We've wheeled it numerous times and it
has yet to get scratched. However, it is UV sensitive (It will fade in
sunlight and will become weaker) but if you want to go this route, try
painting it black over the POR. THe paint may chip, but the POR will get
UV protection.
THis is also much cheaper than having liner sprayed onto them. ( I
think)
