TOY: CT26 adapting to 22RTE manifold
Hey all,
I want to get some opinions on what I'm thinking of doing. I am going to
adapt a Supra CT26 turbo to my 22RTE exhaust manifold. The CT26 is a lot
bigger and better than the stock CT20 turbo (see pic, CT20 on top, CT26 on
bottom) http://home.off-road.com/~black900rr/turbo/CT26-01.jpg The bolt
patterns are close and what I am thinking of doing is just re-drilling the
holes inward. The bolt pattern widthwise is the same (see pic)
http://home.off-road.com/~black900rr/turbo/CT26-04a.jpg but lengthwise the
CT26 is longer than the maifold. So, what I was going to do is to just
relocate the 4 holes inward 1/4 inch or so using the CT-20 gasket as a
template. Does this make sense? It looks like I will have enough clearance
to do this on all 4 holes with a little grinding work. The only other
problem that I see in doing this swap is that normally the CT26 sits on the
passenger side of a Supra, now it is being relocated to the drivers side
and the exhaust exits differently than the stock turbo. I'll have to get a
downpipe custom made for this. Anyone know where I could get the exhaust
flange for the CT26 turbo?
Any input is greatly appreciated.
