I chose the gasser because I'm not fond of the racket or the stink
associated with the diesel versions. I know those are the same reasons some
go that way but I'm not much of a fan although I realize the benefits of the
oil burner. The $4000 price increase was also a concern. I drove the Power
Stroke and to me, it felt like a dog out of the hole. I know we're not
talking about sports cars here but that's kinda what mine is...a big ol'
toy. I don't use it for towing or hauling great loads. I may get a tag
trailer in the future and it will tow that no problem. I use mine as a daily
driver believe it or not, and as vacation or long weekend transportion. I
make a LOT of short trips and I understand that small trips, lot's of
starting and stopping, is not good for the diesel. It makes regular trips to
the local Big Bear mountains to go camping and shooting and four
wheeling...granted I can't take it on the same trails as the ol' Toyota.
It's nice to be able to load up 5 adults and all our stuff and lock the hubs
to get to our favorite shooting spot...all in great comfort (not that the
diesel couldn't do the exact same thing). If my main usage for the truck was
hauling a giant Lance camper or pulling a 5th wheel all over the country or
hauling great loads daily for work, I too, would opt for the Power Stroke. I
think both versions have their place in the market.
