There is probably a connection from the recirc/fresh air lever that controls
the routing of the air.  The hot/cold should control the coolant valve.  Try
opening it manually and see if you get any hot air.

Best not to wait too long or water in the cylinders may cause too much damage
to the cylinder walls, push the block beyond the rebuild limits.
