When I last saw his truck (mebbe two months ago?) he was not. He did have a
hi-pinion (non-electric) diff up front, but he kept breaking 'em in the rear
(running on the coast side of the gear is weaker, of course), so he dropped
a standard-cut third member into the back.

You're right, he was wrong... it's all good.

It made sense that it would be -- but it wasn't. Its very cool that you were
thorough enough to research this solution...

Now on to bigger and better things -- did you ever get a skidplate set up for
the electric motor? Also, I remember that you had this setup finished for the
rear diff... if you finished your front diff, I'd love to see some pix of that
and maybe even update your original article.
