RE: TOY: Pictures

The bed was a custom build and the Truck has always been located in WI. The
guy that built it was the previous owner, who worked in a fab shop (tool and
die I think). It is as solid as it gets, truly built like a tank. The
truck was rear ended at 40 mph two days before the picture was taken, and
the little hook on the back bumper barely got a scratch. My wife was
driving and said that she thought he just bumped her, but it totaled the
Tiberon.

He told me if I could get a Toyota bed for the truck that he would buy back
this one, he wants to use it as a trailer. I, however, have no illusions
about finding a bed. Would be nice though, I think this bed is probably
quite a bit heavier than the OEM one. The tailgate for it was in the fab
process and had no latch yet. I removed it and I have what I think will be
a good latching mechanism but I have yet to talk myself into adding to its
already poor wind resistance. I would also like to add roll bars welded to
the frame with KC's but mostly for cosmetic purposes.

I dislike where the tail-lights sit though... I am planning to move them to
the sides as is traditional for trucks. The holes I will cover with
stainless, and maybe put a 4X4 sticker on each to make it look intentional.
I doubt I will use the original taillight assemblies as he has done. I will
most likely use aftermarket parts to put something together. Might as well,
with the bed being custom anyway.

Soon, I will be painting the Nerf bars and Front bumper after sanding them
down. In these pictures the back one is done, but is dirty. The bed will
also be sanded down on the inside and painted and touched up on the outer
shell. Although you can't see it in these pictures it still had the
cracked-spray painted sunroof. That has since been replaced.

Who built the bed ?
That looks like it could be a CA plate in the window, but the architecture
looks PNW or back east somewhere.
