If you are not fitting an LSD up front etc why disable it?
I have ADD but I also have fitted manual hubs. This allows me to unlock the
hubs for city driving or when on long trips etc as it means none of the
front drive shafts are turning hence less wear on the CV's, boots, bearings
etc etc. When I need 4WD I just lock the hubs and its back to being a
normal ADD setup.
I will be starting my 5 speed swap soon and at the same time I will also be
fitting a Detroit Truetrac up front. With an LSD type center ADD cannot be
used in a true functional manner, as even though the left axle may be
disconnected from the third member, the right axle will turn the crown wheel
which will turn the front driveshaft and also the transfer etc. Therefore
its now not able to operate like a normal open center ADD setup so in normal
circumstances its usual to disable ADD when fitting an LSD etc.
